Mayor Pro Tem Doug Skrzyniarz to Run for Re-Election
Prioritizes Public Safety, Roads, and Economic Development

Sterling Heights, Michigan, February 19, 2015 - Mayor Pro Tem Doug Skrzyniarz has announced his intention to run for re-election to the Sterling Heights City Council. The general election is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015.
Mayor Pro Tem Doug Skrzyniarz was first elected to the city council in 2013 and was appointed Mayor Pro Tem in 2014. During that time, he has joined his colleagues in hiring new police officers and fire fighters, purchasing much needed emergency road repair equipment and funding new neighborhood road construction, as well as kicking off a long term planning process for the city's future.
"Sterling Heights is a national success story and shining example of economic recovery," said Skrzyniarz, "The hard working men and women of our community made us the great city we are today and together we can build an even better future."
Doug Skrzyniarz and Joan, his wife of nearly 16 years, have 5- and 7-year-old sons. Doug received his B.A. from Michigan State University, and completed graduate degrees from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and Wayne State University. Doug was recently selected by Crain's as one of Metro Detroit's 40 under 40. In addition to his role as Mayor Pro Tem, Doug is the Associate Vice President of Government Affairs and Adjunct Instructor for the Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he teaches a class to medical students on health policy. He is a member of the Metro Detroit March of Dimes Board of Directors.
